LO3: Task 5: Planning a graphic novel.

A) Full plot.
(Flashback to Lucinda's younger years.)

Lucinda is a lonely woman who lives with her cat Hex, in a stone tower in a mysterious       forest located in the land Spellbound. Lucinda is turning 30 years old, it has been 11 years since her parents were taken by light casters (good witches). Years back when Lucinda was 19, her and her parents lived in a secret lair where they would all practice spells and sorcery together. The lair was really dark and shady as her parents were in hiding because they murdered a gang of wizards years back who attempted to take away Lucinda because they were sure that her parents weren't capable of looking after her. Because of this Lucinda lived a very strange childhood, she wasn't allowed to talk to other people other than her parents, she wasn't allowed to leave the west side of Spellbound in case she was spotted by Wizards or Light casters who would take her. Light Caster's are good witches, where as Lucinda's parents were born and raised as Dark Caster's, but always tried to avoid causing evil. This made them be very territorial of Lucinda and keep her away from trouble. Once the Light Caster's found Lucinda's parents and took them away, Lucinda escaped into a dark forest on the other side of Spellbound and used her powers to create a large stone tower to keep her safe. She was so upset and angry that she turned dark, meaning she will use her powers for evil. One day a young man stumbles across Lucinda's tower and goes for a sneaky peak not expecting to be caught trespassing. When Lucinda thinks someone is trying to take her she panics and turns the man into a cat. She then keeps the cat as a prisoner in the tower and uses him as her side kick and calls him Hex.

B) Panel layouts.

C) Written script.

LO3: Task 4: Planning a graphic novel.

A) Writing plot.
Name of Comic: Casters.

Plot/Storyline.
Lucinda is a lonely woman who lives with her cat Hex, in a stone tower in a mysterious       forest located in the land Spellbound. Lucinda is turning 30 years old, it has been 11 years since her parents were taken by light casters (good witches). B) Format.
Casters is a comic it would only be print based and not an E-comic.

C)Genre.
The genre of Casters is Fantasy and mild Horror, it fits these two genres because it involves characters with supernatural powers, mythical creatures and magic. It fits into the horror genre with the strong violence, the graphic gore scenes and monsters. It will be similar to  the comic Fables which includes dark and twisted magic which is both fantasy and horror.

D)Character profiles.
The main character is Lucinda who is a Dark Caster (Evil Witch) she is 30 years old which is a very young witch as they are usually hundreds of years old. She uses her supernatural powers to use against people who try sabotage her way, she manipulates people for her own selfish needs and traps them. She has a strong hatred against light casters and wizards and plots to destroy them.
Hex is my other character, he used to be human until he decided to explore the forest of Spellbound and stumbled across Lucinda's tower, Lucinda then punished him for trespassing and turned him into a purple cat. She still does not know how to transform cats back into humans, so now keeps Hex as her little side kick. Hex acts like Lucinda's devil and angel on her shoulders and tells her the good and bad effects of her decisions, which sometimes Lucinda appreciates and sometimes she gets very angry.

E) Target audience.
Hi I am Serena and i am 15 years old. I like to spend my time watching TV programmes such as Supernatural, Charmed, Once Upon a time and Witches of east end. My favourite film of all time is Hocus Pocus. I love anything to do with spells, magic and Witches. My favourite time of year is halloween because i have the opportunity to role play as a witch. I'm not really an out going person, i'd much rather spend the night in with my family watching Fantasy films or playing board games and video games.
F)Potential publisher.
A potential publisher for Casters could be DC comics, I think this because they published comics such as Fables and Sandman which are the same genre comic as mine.

G)Legal and Ethical.
I need to make sure when i am creating my comic that i don't copy any copyrighted material, for example use the same plot line or city name. I need to make sure that the violence in my comic is appropriate for the right age chosen for my target audience. Offensive language or Behaviour will not be used in my comic.

LO2: Finished Characters

Lucinda.
This is a long shot of my main character Lucinda, it shows her full body, appearance and what she is wearing clearly. I sketched her out on paper, then scanned the drawing, traced it on illustrator and filled the piece in on photoshop. I drew her in this pose because it shows her audacious personality and her confidence. When creating this character i took inspirations from 2 villains and a character from the Adamms family, The Joker, Cru ella de ville and Morticia Addams. Colours used like the deep purple in the boots and gloves, the red mouth and hint of bright green were all inspired by the joker, the body shape and hair was inspired by Cru Ella De Ville and the Dress was inspired by Morticia Adamms.

Hex the cat.
This is a full body shot of Hex the cat pulling his happy face, i made his eyes slanted to give him an evil looking expression. To make the whole character i drew how i wanted him to look, and then i traced over my drawing on Illustrator using a graphics tablet, i then coloured the character on photoshop to finish the overall appearance. I chose a deep purple colour to match Lucinda's colour theme, i also think this i quite a mysterious witchy colour. I took inspiration from Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland, Luna from Sailor moon and Salem from Sabrina the teenage witch.
